Analysts said that most cars now need at least 40 kinds of chips, and there are as many as 150 kinds of high-end models. As long as some of them are lacking, production will be affected. With the gradual recovery of the car market in the second half of the year, especially for Chinese cars, chip manufacturers have no capacity to cope with the surging demand for car chips, leading to the stagnation of the supply of car chips.

Facing the shortage of automotive chips, manufacturers on the one hand increased production speed, on the other hand, they also offered tricks to raise the price of automotive chips. Some insiders believe that it is unlikely that the tight production capacity will be alleviated in the short term, and the price rise of the whole industrial chain in 2021 is expected to continue for a long time.

Wanlian Securities pointed out that since December last year, a number of car companies have begun to stop production, of which the north and South Volkswagen bear the brunt, mainly because of the insufficient supply of automotive chips, especially high-end semiconductor chips. Chips are widely used in the automotive field, which is the premise of realizing automotive information perception and control. The import rate of domestic automotive chips is as high as 95%. Among them, key chips such as powertrain, chassis control and ADAS are monopolized by foreign giants. The epidemic affects the overseas chip supply. In the short term, the production capacity of some automotive enterprises may be limited, which more reflects the trend that domestic automotive chips need to be replaced independently in the medium and long term, It is conducive to the accelerated development of domestic independent chip enterprises and independent R & D ADAS enterprises, and it is recommended to focus on it.
